As a successful automobile dealer in eastern Illinois for 43 years, Win C. Smith had significant financial experience before retiring to Montana. Before selling his business in 2002, he had 72 employees and total gross sales of $35,000,000.

In Illinois, he was a Charter Member and co-founder of the Danville Area Economic Development board of directors. He served on the board of directors of the Second National Bank for 17 years and on a Savings and Loan board for 19 years. He also served as President of the Rotary Club and was active with United Way and many other community organizations.

In Ravalli County, Smith served for five years on the Ravalli County Fair Commission; serving as president of the Commission for two years.

He and his wife, Carol, have owned property in the Bitterroot since 1995; they have been full-time residents of Ravalli County since 2002. Smith believes the road to education, employment and prosperity is possible through an active and focused Economic Development board.
