Lee’s ciders just received CHAMPION status in the Best of the Northwest 2014, Sip North West, Traditional category with Darby Pub Cider and for Single Varietal with my favorite Newtown Pipin. The later was made from juice that came from Frost Top Orchard in Corvallis.

USDA State Director Anthony J. Preite will be at the Ravalli County Economic Development Authority on Wednesday, August 13th at 11:30 a.m. Director Preite will be presenting checks to RCEDA to provide technical assistance to three local businesses. The funds are from the Rural Business Enterprise Grants (RBEG) program. A total of $59,700 is being awarded for these rural projects. The purpose of the RBEG funds is to support projects that finance and facilitate development of small and emerging rural businesses.

RCEDA would like to welcome Kay Clevidence to the Ravalli County Economic Development Authority Board. Kay was recently appointed for a term of 5 years by the Ravalli County Commissioners. Kay is the President and CEO of Farmers State Bank. Kay has been in the banking business for 30 years and President of Farmers State Bank for 15 years. Kay stated that, “Farmers State Bank is as strong as our community therefore it is important for me to participate in furthering economic development in the Bitterroot and to be part of an effort that helps our businesses be competitive worldwide.”

The Ravalli County Economic Development Authority will hold a Grand Opening of the new Montana Women’s Business Center Sub Center office on Thursday, January 26th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Refreshments and good networking will be provided. This program provides resources for RCEDA to continue and expand individual counseling to business women (but is available to all businesses). After just two years of providing courses, the Bitterroot College Program of The University of Montana is growing so quickly it is expanding its facility. In fall 2009, the Hamilton-based BCP offered six college courses in which 29 students enrolled. This fall the program expects to enroll more than 200 students in 35 courses.
